Recurrent Energy announced the sale of two standalone battery-storage projects in France to BW ESS on October 29, 2026, PR Newswire reported. Recurrent Energy said the transaction is its first with BW ESS and marks BW ESS’s entry into the French energy market.

Recurrent Energy said the Baixas project in Pyrénées-Orientales and the Coquainvilliers project in Calvados each have a capacity of 100 MW / 400 MWh, for a combined 200 MW / 800 MWh. Recurrent Energy said it originated and developed both projects, including work on land, grid connections, permitting and local stakeholder engagement.

France is BW ESS’s seventh market, after the United Kingdom, Australia, Italy, Germany, Spain and Sweden, pv magazine France reported. BW ESS says it has more than 540 MWh of operating battery-storage capacity and about 12 GWh of projects under construction or at an earlier stage.

The French projects are in advanced development, according to BW ESS as reported by ESS News. Recurrent Energy says it will lead the remaining development work. Once the remaining milestones are met, BW ESS says it will lead construction and bring the assets into commercial operation, with the intention of owning and operating them over the long term.
